Accessibility statement

At Bo & Birdie, we want everyone to be able to shop with us – regardless of ability or the technology they use. Accessibility is an ongoing effort for us, and we continually improve us.boandbirdie.com.

How we meet the requirements

We follow the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA – the standard commonly referenced under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The website partially conforms to these guidelines; the limitations listed below are known to us. Among the things in place:

• Keyboard operation: product options and add-on products (such as frames or power adapters) can be reached with the Tab key and selected with Enter or the Space bar.
• Visible focus: the currently focused control is clearly highlighted.
• Names for screen readers: buttons, select fields, and form fields carry a name, even when they only show an icon.
• Cart preview: the product preview in the cart is keyboard-operable – focus moves into the dialog when it opens, closing it and “Proceed to checkout” are reachable, and Escape closes it.
• Expandable sections: FAQs, product details, and filters tell screen readers whether they are open or closed.
• Reduced motion: if “reduce motion” is enabled in the operating system, the announcement banner, among other things, no longer advances automatically.
• Structure and language: heading levels, a skip link to the main content, and the page language are provided.
• Decorative images: purely decorative images are skipped by screen readers so information is not read twice.

Known limitations

• Some colour contrasts have not yet been checked fully systematically.
• Parts of our store come from third-party providers – including the product configurator, customer reviews, the cookie banner, and checkout. We choose our partners carefully and report issues to them, but we have no direct access to their software.
